Art Guild visits Rotary ClubJoe PhelpsPublished Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in the Gurdon Times Farrell Ford, president of the Caddo River Art Guild, spoke at the Gurdon Rotary Club meeting Thursday, March 20, about the upcoming Round About Artist Studio Tour this October. The tour, she said, will be Oct. 17-19 and is a free self-guided tour for those who appreciate art. There are 26 artists in the Guild who will have studios set up throughout the Arkadelphia and northern Clark County and southern Hot Spring County around Bismarck. The artists will display their work, which extends from painting, photography, pottery and sculpture to jewelry, eggery, stained glass and hand-made paper. Each studio will have art for sale, and Ford said this is something to keep in mind since the tour is held around the Christmas holiday. Ford said last year the artists made $22,000 in sales from art, and that there is affordable art available. There are currently no member of the Guild in Gurdon, but Ford said she hopes to soon have some and she would love to see some interest from Gurdon residents. Maps will be available at J & S Framing, located at 513 Main St. in Arkadelphia.
