All applicants will be required to meet eligibility guidelines and must be a full time resident of Nevada County or the Gurdon area in order to qualify. Brian Burton, founder of the program, has secured funding for the first six months of the pantrys operation, but additional community support is needed. For people wishing to donate, a wish list has been compiled for the following items: non-perishable food items, health and beauty aids, shelving, desk, office supplies and equipment. In 2009, Burton and Mary Russell, local director of services, plan to launch Phase 2, which would offer parenting classes and educational classes to help people gain the skills they need to form a permanent pathway out of poverty.
