Jean ShawPublished Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneWanda Jean Shaw, 74, of Hope, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born on Aug. 18, 1933 in Patmos, to Albert Glendon Powell and Bessie Pearl Cox Powell. She was a retired bookkeeper, former employee of Diamond Field Resourced and Hempstead County Memorial Hospital and co-owner of Hunter Enterprises of Hope. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope and the Fidelis Sunday School Class, held a black belt in Judo, loved to golf, swim, and bowl, former member of the Band PW of Hope, former member of Hope Baseball Association and their concession stand, and Eastern Star of Hope. She was a good wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and will be missed dearly. Her survivors include her faithful and loving husband of almost 52 years, Wayne Shaw of Hope; one son, Steve Shaw of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Sherry Shaw Felts of Stuttgart; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Meredith Felts of Stuttgart and Hunter Shaw of Austin, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at First United Methodist Church in Hope, with Rev. Kenneth Bobo and Dr. Tandy Hanson officiating. The burial was in Betts Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope. The family received friends on Saturday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
