Leona Ballard, 81, of Mesquite, Texas, died Monday, March 3, 2008, in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Ballard was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church of Prescott. A member of the Rose Garden Club of Prescott, Gideon Auxiliary, and was a mother to numerous foster children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nancy Cook Cooper; a son, Pat and a daughter, Deborah.

She is survived by her caring and loving husband of 59 years, 6 months and 3 days, James Ballard; a daughter, Nan Tomlin; a sister, Helen Vidrine of Horseshoe Bend, Texas; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 5, at Pharr Funeral Home of Prescott from 6-8 p.m.

The grave side service was Thursday, March 6, in the Bluff City Cemetery at Bluff City, Hwy. 24, at 11 a.m. The service was entrusted to Pharr Funeral Home of Prescott. The online guest book is at www.pharrfhprescott.com.
