"Raising the Curtain" for pre-saleJoe PhelpsPublished Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Gurdon Times In an effort to raise money for the benefit of the new Gurdon Auditorium, Gurdon resident Denise Ezell is putting together a community cookbook. The cookbook, which is currently named Raising the Curtain, consists of more than 700 recipes; but Ezell said the magic number she would like to reach is at least 1,000. The cookbook will come in the form of a sturdy three-ring binder with eight categories of foods and beverages. Another feature of the cookbook is the stand for added convenience for people to read the recipes as they cook their meal. Ezell has been putting cookbooks together for two years, while dealing with the health of her parents. This has been a dream of mine, Ezell said about putting together the cookbook. The cookbook has been a teamwork project, with help from Kris Jester from the Cabe Foundation. In the next week, the cookbook will go on pre-sale. Ezell said she hopes to sell as many as possible on the pre-sale in order to determine the number she needs to order for distribution. To enter a recipe, go to www.typensave.com and click on the login button. From there, type your name for contributor, type ADD for the group and type KCMBR for the password. Then select Add a recipe to enter your favorite dish or dishes. Recipes should be submitted no later than March 15. Ezell said if anyone has good typing skills, they are more than welcome to help type the recipes. Anyone interested in submitting or helping with the cookbook should call Ezell at 353-2832, or Jester at 353-2063. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
