Grace VickersPublished Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMiss Grace Vickers, 103, of Hot Springs, formerly of Emmet, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Hot Springs. She was born on May 5, 1904, in Nevada County, to John and Ida Shackelford Vickers. She was a retired registered nurse. She attended the Emmet United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of Emmet. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Vickers and Ray Vickers and by one sister, Burnham Vickers Brooks. Her survivors include three nephews, Richard Vickers and Sandra of Hot Springs, Vick Vickers and LaVelle of Austin, Texas, and Bobby Brooks of West Monroe, La.; one niece, Martha Varnado and Charlie of Winnsboro, La.; several cousins and friends. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Emmet United Methodist Church in Emmet, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. The burial was in Snell Cemetery in Emmet.
