Published Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in the Gurdon Times

The Arkansas Career Training Institute (ACTI) of Hot Springs Rehab Center has named Steven Burris as its Student of the Month for Dec.2007/Jan. 2008.

Steven is a 23-year-old and is from Gurdon. He enrolled at ACTI in October of 2006 and is currently participating in the Printing PrePress training program.

Stevens counselor, Judy Pultz, said, Steven is a non-resident and is always on time. He is an excellent example of a good person and employee. He, quietly, stands out among all the students that I have worked with through the years.

Stevens instructors, Tom Kennedy and Ralph Forbes, said, We are both in agreement that Steven is an excellent choice for student of the month. He is an outstanding student, is diligent in his studies, always on time and rarely misses class. His work on many documents, publications, signage and, most notably, the PlayDay T-shirt, has been seen by most of staff and students, and yet he does not receive any credit for these.

Steven is the son of Glenda Burris. He has three sisters : Angie, Christie, Terri and Sarah. Steven graduated Gurdon High School in 2002. His hobbies include fishing and watching football.

During a reception held in his honor, Steven was presented with a plaque which read: This award is presented in recognition of your commitment to your program at ACTI, and continued with the aforementioned credits.
