Gladys BensonPublished Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Gurdon TimesGladys Murphy Benson, 81, of Gurdon, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Twin Rivers Health & Rehab in Arkadelphia. She was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Gurdon, the daughter of Walter Goodwin Murphy and Lela Henry Ward. Gladys was a Baptist housewife. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Pete Benson, a son, Danny Joe Benson and daughter-in-law, Jan Benson. She is survived by three sons, David and wife Shelia Benson of Russellville, Donald Benson of Gurdon and Douglas and wife Mary Kay Benson of Gurdon; one daughter, Linda Beene and husband Ray of Curtis; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in Pharr Funeral Home Chapel of Gurdon with interment in Rose Hedge Cemetery.
