Margie ReedPublished Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Margie J. Reed, 85, of Caney Community in Prescott, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at her home. She was born on Aug. 28, 1922, in Reader to O.T. and Rosa Goodlett Johnson. She was a homemaker and former employee of Gulf Oil Company. She was a member of Morris Baptist Church, former member of Nevada County Fair Board, member of Double C Home Extension Club, and for years she served orange juice to Hillcrest residents. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.T. Wood and her second husband, John Reed. Her survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Hicks and Celia Karmel and Kenneth, all of Caney; three step-children, Clark Reed and Nancy Outlaw, both of El Dorado, and Connie Clark of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Charlotte Brusen of Cut Off, La.; four grandchildren, Dennis and Chris Hicks, both of Caney, Keith Karmel of Bella Vista, and Kevin Karmel of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Caney Hicks of Caney, John Tyler Karmel and Zack Karmel, both of Corinth, Texas and Lauren Davis of Indianapolis, Ind. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Morris Baptist Church in Caney Community, Caney with Revs. Sam Tamburo and Jim Cross officiating. The burial was in Caney Cemetery in Caney.
