Norris Daniels

Norris Daniels, 90, formerly of Bodcaw, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.

She was born March 19, 1917, in the Sardis Community, north of Stamps. She was the oldest of four children. Mrs. Daniels was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed sharing the work of farm life as well as gardening, canning, sewing and caring for her family. In 1984, Norris and I.J. retired from the farm and moved to Texarkana, Texas. They remained there for 12 years and she returned to Bodcaw after her husbands death. In July 2004, she moved to Round Rock to be near her daughter. She was a member of Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw.

Mrs. Daniels was preceded in death by her husband, I. J. Daniels; a son, Jim Daniels; two brothers; one sister; and three sisters-in-law.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Peggy Daniels of Fort Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ted Purtle of Round Rock, Texas; daughter-in-law, Tammy Daniels-Baldwin of Bodcaw, sister-in-law, Dixie Rogers of Longview, Texas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was known as Mimi to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as to a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Bodcaw Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Evans and Wayne Langston officiating, with burial in the Lakeside Cemetery at Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

The visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bodcaw Baptist Church.
