Lawrence RodgersPublished Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneLawrence MacDaniel Rodgers Jr. was born on Sep. 17, 1917, in Willisville, and passed away Feb. 2, 2008, at Pine Bluff. He was the first son of the late Mack and Eva Rodgers and big brother to Rudolph and Sue Rodgers. After high school, Lawrence joined the United States Navy and served in World War II as Chief Petty Officer on the USS Coronos in Okinawa. Upon return to the United States, Lawrence began working in the laboratory at Berry Asphalt Company in Stephens. He later moved to Pine Bluff and joined Central Moloney in their laboratory. Lawrence retired from the City of Pine Bluffs Water Treatment Plant in 1982. He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Rudolph Rodgers and sister, Nell Phillips. Lawrence leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Annette Owen Rodgers; his sister, Sue Rodgers Bundy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; in-laws; Bobby Owen and wife Peggy of Pine Bluff, Martha Myers and husband Bob of White Hall, and Janice Owen of Searcy; and a slew of nephews and nieces who loved him dearly. The funeral service was Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Sidney Tompkins and Gordon Rodgers officiating.
