Five arrested in Sonic robbery

Charges are pending against five people for their alleged involvement in the robbery of the Prescott Sonic.

According to a report on file with the Prescott Police Department, Christopher Carrigan, 19, 36 High Meadows, was arrested as the result of a two-week investigation.

PPD Chief Brian Russell released only Carrigans name, citing the fact that the other four alleged to have played a role in the robbery are students or minors. Two of the men are listed by the Nevada County Jail as being 18 years old and Russell said the remaining two are 17.

The robbery occurred after midnight on Jan. 13 when a man who is apparently a Sonic employee was taking money to the bank. According to a police report filed by PPD Officer Ronnie Wreyford, The employee had already locked the Sonic and was on his way to his car when two of the robbers approached.

The employee reportedly told the two that the money was inside and all three went to the door of the business when one grabbed him by his left arm and threw him down to the concrete sidewalk, the report states. One of the robbers made a fist and started to hit the employee, who then reportedly told officers that he reached inside his coat and handed one of the males the money.

The employee was able to provide police with a description of three of the robbers, according to Wreyfords report.

Russell issued a press release on the subject following the arrests. He stated that the arrests are the result of a two-week investigation.
