James W. MarlarPublished Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in the Nevada County PicayuneJames W. Marlar, 87, of Texarkana, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in a local nursing home. Mr. Marlar was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Buckner. He was a Baptist, a veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Imogene Marlar of Texarkana; two sons, James K. Marlar of Nash, Texas, and Bill and Donna Marlar of Texarkana; one daughter, Dorothy and Joel Schwartz of Planto, Texas; five grandchildren, Alicia Marlar Wolf and John, and Wil Marlar, all of Texarkana, Brian Schwartz and Julie Schwartz, both of Plano, Texas, Mandy Campbell and Joel of Gladewater, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe Wolf of Texarkana, and Mason and Clayton Campbell of Gladewater, Texas. Mr. Marlar enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at East Memorial Chapel-Downtown, with the Rev. Art Menard officiating. Burial followed in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown. The family received friends Jan. 20 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
