Delsie BrittPublished Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in the Gurdon TimesDelsie Marie Britt, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was welcomed home into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior and singing angels on Jan. 2, 2008. Born May 5, 1919, in Toyah, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Reeves Burchard. Delsie was happily married for 55 years to the love of her life, William Roy Britt, now deceased. They moved to Gurdon in April 1952 and were members of the First United Methodist Church . She was far from being just a homemaker. She was a loving mother that taught responsibility, work and how to laugh when working. She was a gracious hostess that made everyone feel loved and welcomed the minute they entered her home. She was a talented seamstress and worked beside her husband whether it was working cattle, planting pine trees or hauling hay. She loved the outdoors, gardening, growing flowers and singing with joy in her heart. She gave to many, never expecting anything in return. She loved unconditionally and could find positive in all things. We truly lost a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will live in our hearts and memories. Survivors include her son, Roy and wife George Ann Britt of Gurdon; three daughters, Ann and husband Glenn Lane of Mammoth Springs, Nan and husband Ray Waggoner of Dallas, Texas and Linda and husband Gene Brown of Hot Springs;16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her grandsons served as her pallbearers. Grave side service was Friday, Jan. 4, at 10:30 a.m. in Rose Hedge Cemetery by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home. Online guest book: is at www.hornefuneralhome. net. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
