Clyde Covington

Mr. Clyde Edward Covington, 80, of Prescott, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 in Prescott.

He was born on March 12, 1927, in Murfreesboro, to Carl Edward and Dora Mae Willett Covington. He was a retired law enforcement officer from the Alcohol and Beverage Control, having retired in 1995; former Nevada County Sheriff from 1972-1978; former Prescott Police Officer, and former Navy Shore Patrolman. He was a member of Prescott Church of Christ and Navy Veteran of both WWII and Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Maxine Dulaney Covington of Prescott; two daughters, Dorothy Mae Ingram and Gerald of San Diego, Calif. and Debra Jean Pate of Prescott; one brother, Doyle Glen Covington of Little Rock; three sisters, Sylvia Turner of Montgomery, Texas, Faye Preston of Prescott and Joyce Campbell of Bryant; three grandchildren, Shannon Mouser of Emmet, Angela Gammage of Prescott and Ryan Pate of Dierks; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott, with Mr. Ken turner, Mr. Bill Dulaney, Mr. James Cox, and Mr. Wilburn Wesson officiating. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

The family received friends Saturday, Dec. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
