Child pushed through window, man charged

An Arkadelphia man was arrested in Gurdon after being accused of pushing a child through a window.

According to a report on file at the Gurdon Police Department, Kelley Smith, 45, of 1424 Martin St., Arkadelphia, was charged with third degree battery after the incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 23.

The report indicates that police responded to a call around 8 p.m. and were met by a child who said he had been pushed through a window by a white male who had left on foot. The mother of the child told police that she witnessed the incident and gave her statement.

After leaving the residence, officers were able to locate Smith who reportedly admitted that he had pushed the child. He was released with a citation and is to appear in court on Jan. 17.

An S. 51 Highway resident reported seeing a suspicious person standing in her yard on two occasions, Dec. 14 and 17.

Dec. 21

A Reynolds Road resident reported four air conditioning units missing.

An Okolona resident reported vandalism to a trailer on S. 51 Highway.

Dec. 22

A Wood Road resident reported that her ex-husband took her car and kids. Deputies responded that the divorce was not final and there were no custody arrangements.

Dec. 23A Gurdon resident reported a go-cart was stolen.

A Cedar Grove Road resident reported a person standing in his driveway with a black bag when he drove up. The person fled on foot but left the bag, which contained guns that had been taken from the residence.

Dec. 25

A Gurdon resident reported trash dumped at the intersection of Brewer and Smithton roads. Suspects were told they had until Dec. 26 to pick it up or a citation would be issued.

A resident of N. 51 Highway reported that her neighbors were fighting. One party was advised to leave for the night. After seeing that his drivers license was suspended, deputies drove him somewhere for the night.
