New owners working hard at local businessBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in the Gurdon Times Sealless Medrano grew up in Gurdon. During the intervening years, shes worked in an array of restaurants and convenience stores, sometimes as a manager but always for someone else. Today, Medrano is owner and operator of S&S Grill, located on Highway 67 S. in the building that formerly housed Louies. Ive always wanted this, Medrano said during a recent interview. The fact that shes made the dream come through is even better because its in the town where she grew up, where people know her. The grill is open daily beginning at 4:30 a.m. for those who head off to early-morning jobs. For those who want to take it on the go, Medrano suggests calling ahead. Call it in and well have it ready, she said. For those who have time to stop, sit down and have a second cup of coffee, S&S has plenty of inside seating. Come in and sit down, Medrano said. Eat, talk and enjoy your meal. Medrano offers lunchtime specials that always includes home cooked dishes. From chicken-fried steak to chili, the specials are as varied as the menu. And for those who just want a sandwich on the run or a burger, it takes only a few minutes. Want something different? Just ask. Ill cook whatever a customer wants, Medrano said. It doesnt stop there because Medrano has a full line of desserts. Home made candy, cakes and pies are available daily and for special orders. For those who want pies or some other dessert for a special event or just for home, call in at least a day ahead of time. Asked which of the pies is best, Medrano said, All of them, but I like chocolate. To place an order, for information about daily specials or other information, call 353-2888.
