Galyn Calhoun Sr.Published Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Galyn Goob Calhoun Sr., 62, of Hope, died Saturday, Dec. 8, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope. He was born Aug. 14, 1945 in Laneburg to Olen and Verna Stokes Calhoun. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church and Crossroads Community of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Denton Calhoun and Autry Calhoun. His is survived by two sons, Steven Calhous of Hope and Galyn Goobie Calhoun Jr. and Sandra of Emmet; one daughter, Jan Calhoun of Greenville, Texas; two brothers, Delton Calhoun and Shirley of Little Rock and Terrell Calhoun of Camden; one sister-in-law, Maxine Calhoun of Bryant; five grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends. The grave side service was Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Rosston, with Rev. Charles Hawley officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. The family received friends Monday, Dec. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. The online guest book is at www.brazzelfuneralhomes.com.
