Culpepper seeks re-election

Published Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune

Circuit Judge Duncan Culpepper announces his candidacy for reelection as Circuit Judge for the 8th North District, Div. 2. He has served as Circuit Judge for 9 years. This district covers all of Hempstead and Nevada Counties.

As your Circuit Judge, I have worked diligently to serve the residents of our district fairly and impartially. My decisions have all been based upon the law and facts as presented in the courtroom. My reputation is one of honesty and integrity.

Nine years experience as Circuit Judge has required me to hear all types of cases, which include criminal, civil, domestic, probate, and juvenile cases. I am proud to be primarily responsible for the only Drug Court in our district. The Drug Court gives those charged or convicted of crimes, who are addicted to drugs, an opportunity to become productive members of society.

Prior to becoming Circuit Judge I was a trial attorney for 20 years, municipal judge for 9 years, and a deputy prosecuting attorney for five years. My experience as Judge and Attorney make me highly qualified for this position and keenly aware of what must be done to follow the laws for all people appearing before me.

Culpepper lives in Prescott with his wife of 35 years, Debra Harris Culpepper, who teaches at Hope High School. They have two married daughters and one 2 year-old grandson, Cooper. Laura Knight coaches at Diboll, Texas and Beth Harp works for SaraLee in Rogers.

Culpepper is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, law school, a past member of the Prosecuting Attorneys Association, current member of the American, Arkansas and Southwest Arkansas Bar Associations, an honorary lifetime member of the Arkansas District Judges Association and a member of the Arkansas Judicial Council. He currently serves as a member of the Judicial Resources Committee and the Judicial Education Committee for the Judicial Council.

I promise to continue to serve you fairly and impartially, showing no favoritism to either side. I ask for your vote in the Non-Partisan General Election on May 20, 2008. It will be an honor to continue to serve, you, the citizens of Hempstead and Nevada Counties as your Circuit Judge.

Judge Duncan Culpepper was elected to the position of Circuit Judge in 1999, defeating Blevins attorney, Keith Wood.
