PRESCOTT 74
Published Wednesday, March 3, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneWARREN 53 Victim No. 1 for Prescott in the regional tilt was the Warren LadyJacks, who fell 74-53 to the Wolverette assault force. There was little doubt as to which team was superior on the court as the Wolverettes opened up with a 23-13 first quarter lead. Halftime arrived with Prescott's lead lengthened to 44-27 as the Wolverettes were in full control and cruising right along. In the third quarter, the game was completely out of hand as Prescott led 63-34. Coach Cossey went to the bench for most of the final period as the Wolverettes had earned a berth in the state tourney. The Wolverettes converted 11 of 13 free throws, while Warren was seven of 14. Cossey led the attack this time with 24 points on the night, all from three-point range. Stockton was next with the first 20 of her tourney high 80 points. Graham was next with 18. Leah Henley led Warren with 21. Burks scored 15 and Harris added 13. Warren stayed in a zone all night, leaving Cossey open from the wing. Every team in the 7AAA knows better than this, because of her reputation for bombing away with deadly accuracy. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
