Boyd Smith

Boyd Leon Smith, age 70, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at Hospice Care of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.

He was born June 9, 1937, in Russellville, the son of the late Russell & Virchie Vanderpool Smith. Boyd was a retired lumber inspector for Anthony-Higgs Lumber Co. of Gurdon and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Smith & an infant daughter.

Boyd is survived by three sons; Russell Smith of Gurdon, Curtis Smith of Spartanburg, S.C. and David Grant Smith of Hot Springs; one sister, Ruth Moore of Compton, and six grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Alye King, Alex Smith, Zack Smith, Rachel Smith & Conner Smith.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, with Bro. Robin Moore officiating.

The family received friends from 9 a.m. until service time.
