Woman rescued from house fireBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune A mid-morning fire at a residence on Cale Road was stopped by Prescott Firefighters before the house was consumed and in time for firefighters to rescue a woman trapped inside the house. According to David Gummeson, Prescott Fire Department Secretary, firefighters got the call around 11:30 a.m. Gummeson said that smoke was coming from all the windows when the firefighters arrived. He said that the fire was pretty much contained to the living room. According to Gummeson, once the blaze was extinguished firefighters made a search of the house and discovered a woman in the bathroom. We started CPR, Gummeson said. The ambulance was already on the way to be on standby for firefighters and arrived a short time later. The victim was taken to Hope where she was airlifted to a Little Rock hospital. Gummeson said that hed been told she was going to recover. There was smoke damage throughout the house, according to Gummeson, but the structure was not severely damaged by fire. He said the cause of the fire had not yet been determined though Prescott Police were investigating. I dont suspect foul play, Gumemson said. It seemed to have started on the couch.
