Lisa Gaye White, 47, of 800 E. Miller St., has been charged with financial identity fraud after she allegedly opened credit card accounts in another persons name.

According to records on file in the Clark County Circuit Clerks office, the victim went to a local credit union to open a new line of credit. When the credit union ran a credit check on the victim, they found that she had several accounts that she claimed no ownership to.

The victim contacted the credit card companies who said she was the owner of the accounts, but the address given to the companies was that of White. The victim said she had allowed White to use her credit card in July to make a specific purchase, but she had not given her permission to open any other accounts.

White claims that the victim gave her permission to open the accounts so that White could purchase Christmas presents. White allegedly admitted to opening the accounts during a police interrogation, the report states.

White is charged with two counts of financial identity fraud, a felony.

An affidavit on indigency was filed with the court by White in September, and she was granted a public defender. She bonded out of jail on a $10,000 bond.

The case had been set for trial, but a motion for continuance filed by Whites attorney was granted by Clark County Circuit Judge John Thomas on Oct. 1.
