More plans made for Forest FestivalBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in the Gurdon Times The 12th Annual Eric Griffin Memorial Run is one of several items being planned for the Gurdon Forest Festival. The festival will take place all day Saturday, Oct. 27, in downtown Gurdon. The Eric Griffin Memorial run will be held at the Gurdon High School track, and the first race will begin at 2 p.m. Anyone age three to 14 is invited to attend, according to event sponsors. A $5 entry fee is required to enter the race. Late entries will cost $8. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. Non-participants can obtain a t-shirt for $10. Drawings for cash prizes will be held before each race. For more information on the race, contact Hope McGalliard at 353-2982 or Paula Griffin at 353-2937. The Clark County Cattlemens Association will hold the third annual chili cook-off during the festival. The contest will take place under the US Bank drive through on Main Street. Set up is at 7 a.m., and there is a $20 entry fee. All chili must be cooked on site. There is a $200 first place prize, and $100 will be awarded for send place.
