Two men accused in separate murder cases in Nevada County are now represented by attorneys and motions have been filed in both cases.

Isaac Railey Jr., 45, 647 Bryant, is represented by Jeff Harrelson of Texarkana. Railey is charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and theft of property for his alleged role in the Aug. 2 death of his ex-wife, Geneva Chatman.

Railey reportedly rode his bicycle to the Nevada County Sheriffs Office and told officers that hed killed his wife. County officers, joined by the Prescott Police Department, found Chatman on the floor of her apartment at Martin Place. Railey had been arrested prior to that incident and had been out of jail at the time of the murder.

According to court records, Chatmans throat had been cut and she was dead when officers arrived.

Harrelson has filed a motion for discovery in Raileys case. The motion is a standard request for information Nevada County Prosecutor Chris Thomason plans to use in the case against Railey.

Thomason has responded with a similar motion. Railey is next scheduled for court on Nov. 5.

In an unrelated case, Kelvin Box, also accused of capital murder, is being represented by Rick Shumaker of Texarkana, Texas. Box, 39, 4523 Highway 371, Rosston, is accused of two counts of capital murder for his alleged role in the Aug. 11 shooting death of his ex-wife and her husband, Tracy Lambert, 31, and Jerome Lambert, 36. The shooting occurred near Rosston and a child was reportedly a witness to the act.

Box was charged with two counts of capital murder terroristic threatening and illegal possession of a firearm.

Box turned himself in the day after the shootings. Within days, he faced additional charges of sexual indecency with a child and sexual assault.

On Sept. 28, Shumaker filed a motion for discovery in Boxs case. On Oct. 2, Thomason filed a similar motion of his own. The next trial date for Box was not included in current court files as of press time.
