Emme Mae HopsonPublished Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneMrs. Emma Mae Hopson, 95, of Prescott, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at 4:15 a.m. in Medical Park Hospital in Hope. She was born on Dec. 4, 1911, in Nevada County, to Maxwell and Margaret Washington Flemons. She was a homemaker. She became a member of St. Luke AME Church at an early age. She later joined Ward Chapel AME Church where she was a faithful member until her health failed her. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Claudie Hopson. To this union three children were born. She is preceded in death by her parents; one loving son, C. L. Hopson; one granddaughter, Emma Jackson; one grandson, Larry Hopson; one great-granddaughter, Torie Jefferson; three brothers, William, Mack, and Leonart; and one sister, Geneva. Her survivors include, one son, Howard Hopson of Rockford, Ill.; one devoted daughter, Idella Hopson Hayes of Prescott; two loving daughters-in-law, Lourene and Lorretta Hopson, both of Rockford, Ill.; one brothers, Roy Flemons of Detroit, Mich.; two very special grandsons, Ricky Smallwood of Fort Worth, Texas and Zadrien (Tatur Bug) Smallwood of Prescott; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Aug. 25, at Munns Chapel Baptist Church in Prescott, with Revs. Curtis Dansby and Bobby L. Shaw officiating. The burial was in Craven Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott. The family received friends Friday, Aug. 24, from 6-8 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
