James AkinPublished Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. James Edward Akin, 72, of Fulton, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Fulton on Oct. 11, 1934, to George Alford Akin and Connie Jones Akin. He was a retired sales manager for the former Buhrman-Pharr Hardware of Texarkana. He was a Christian. H was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joann Brinkley Akin who passed away on May 17, 2004; one brother, Malcolm Akin; and two sisters, Gwendolyn Gwen Grisham and Josephine Akin. Survivors include five sons, Al Akin of Little Rock, Wayne Akin and Deborah of Fulton, Eddy Akin and Patty of Prescott, Jimmy Joe Akin of Fulton, and Jaffery Arel Allen and Tina of Corinth, Texas; two sisters, Mattie Green of Fulton and Dorothy Schwander of Little Rock; one special friend, Barbara Smith of Fulton; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Grave side services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope with the Rev. Malachi Reed officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
