Roena TimmonsPublished Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in the Gurdon TimesRoena Ross Whitmarsh Timmons, 68, died July 10, 2007 in Columbus, Ga. He was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Gurdon, the daughter of Earl and Lorena Ross, graduated from Gurdon High School, attended Henderson State Teachers College, and graduated from Arburn University in Arburn, Ala. She was a librarian in the Columbus Public School System for 40 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gurdon, and a member of the Arkadelphia Chapter DAR. Survivors are one daughter, Patti Farr; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters all of Columbus, Ga.; and one sister, Theda Aud (Millard) of Arkadelphia. The funeral service was in Columbus, Ga., Thursday, July 12. A grave side service was in Gurdon at Rose Hedge Cemetery Tuesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. Visitation was at Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon Monday night from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Gurdon High School Auditorium - Alumni Room c/o: Anita Cabe 108 North Front St. Gurdon, AR 71743.
