Poll predicts success for Go-DevilsBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in the Gurdon Times Coaches in the 7-3A conference have cast their votes, and the Gurdon Go-Devils have been picked to finished second in the conference during the 2007 football season. The poll was released along with the most recent edition of Hootens Arkansas Football magazine. In its 15th year of publication, the magazine highlights each high school team in the state as well as those from state universities. In its preview of the Gurdon football season, the magazine states that the Go-Devils receive their strength from the teams experienced linemen. Weaknesses cited include a lack of depth. The Go-Devils finished the 2006 season as the second place team in the conference and played in the opening round of the state playoffs. Their 2006 record was 6-5. Only one conference game was lost. In 2007, Hootens has ranked the teams of the 7-3A in the following order: Prescott, Gurdon, Lafayette County, Magnet Cove, Fouke, Horatio, Centerpoint and Bismarck.
