J. D. Hammonds

Mr. J. D. Hammonds, 84, of Gurdon, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab.

He was born August 23, 1922 at Vaden, the son of the late Jim and Nancy Langley Hammonds. He was retired from the Clark County Road Department, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Oak Grove Church in the Hammonds Chapel Community.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Hammonds.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mamie McClure Hammonds; five sons, Junior, Henry, and William Hammonds, all of Gurdon, Louis Hammonds of Camden, and Don Hammonds of Alpina, one daughter, Cindy Hammonds Taylor of Texarkana, 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A grave side funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 30, in the Easley Cemetery with Brother Harry Stone officiating. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Sign on line guest book at www.ruggleswilcox.com.
