Rev. Pauline BullockPublished Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in the Gurdon TimesFuneral services for Rev. Pauline Guy Bullock, 88, of Longview, Texas were held on Wednesday, May 30 at 2:00 pm at Welch Funeral Home in Longview. Rev. Bullock went to be with Jesus on May 23rd. Rev. Bullock was born in Gurdon in 1919 to Nellie Tate and Benjamin Guy, and graduated from Gurdon High School in 1937. She became active in the Assemblies of God Church, and became one of its first women Ministers in 1941. She served as Pastor Emeritus of the Gurdon Assembly of God until 1944. She co-founded Hillcrest Childrens Home in Hot Springs, and served as Interim Pastor of churches in Plainview and Reader.
Rev. Bullock earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education from North Texas State University, and taught school at Southwestern Bible College in Waco before moving to Longview in 1955. She served as a Substitute Teacher in the Longview School District, and founded the first Private School in Longview in 1965. Rev. Bullock served as a Missionary to the Indians in Arizona and New Mexico until 1976, and was named in Marquis' Who's Who In Religion in 1977. She returned to Texas, where she served as the Staff Pianist for the Salvation Army in Longview until her retirement in 2005. Rev. Bullock returned to Gurdon often, for its Centennial Celebration and for her 50th High School Reunion in 1987, with 17 of the original class of 26. She was an avid reader and author, and wrote 17 booklets and short articles, and recorded 4 gospel piano albums.
Rev. Bullock was preceded to Heaven by her Husband and 3 of her children. She is survived by a son, Van of Longview, her Daughter-In-Law, Kathleen Bullock, two Granddaughters, Victoria Bullock of Longview, and Samantha Monkman of Hanover, New Hampshire. Interment was at Grace Hill Cemetery, in Longview, Texas. Memorials may be made on behalf of Rev. Bullock to the First Assembly of God Church, Gurdon AR.
