Prescott's diamond Wolves have gotten off to a rocky start this baseball season.

The Wolves were dropped in the season opener by a 17-4 score at the hands of the Gurdon Go-Devils Thursday, Feb. 25. The game was called after four and a half innings because of the 10-run rule.

For three innings the Wolves played even with the Devils, but a two-out error opened the door for five runs.

Jarrod Yates, losing pitcher for Prescott, led off the top of the fourth with a solo homer to cut the gap to 5-1.

In the bottom of the frame, the Devils offense came alive for 12 runs on eight hits, four walks and a pair of errors.

The Wolves, according to Coach Steve Crow, had several chances to get out of the inning with far less damage, but, because of poor execution in the field, didn't.

In the top of the fifth, the Wolves sent three runners around the bases, two scoring on Angelo Haynes' homer. Haynes, best known this year as Wally Wolf, was playing his first game ever. An RBI by Yates accounted for the third run.

Doug Young and Yates had two hits each.

The Devils recorded nine hits, while Prescott had five..

The Devils junior varsity squad recorded a 4-0 win over Prescott.
