John Watson Jr.Published Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. John McKenzie Watson Jr., 75, of Emmet, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at his home. He was born on June 25, 1931, in Ozan to J. M. and Vinnie A. Gaines Watson. He was a retired Sgt. of detectives and former policeman in Alexandria, La.; a Mason, also owner/operator of the Lazy W Campground and hosted the Pickin Shed Bluegrass group both in Emmet. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Hope and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Hazel Watson; and one brother, Travis Watson. His survivors include his wife, Falba Grisham Watson of Emmet; one son, Danny Watson and Judy of Hope; two daughters, Judy Watson Phillips and Dave of Emmet and JoAnn Land of Emmet; three stepsons, Danny Key and David Key, both of Hope, and Paul Lively of Magnolia; one stepdaughter, Denyse Sewell of Texarkana; one brother, Joe Watson of Baton Rouge, La.; and two sisters, Linda Sue Campbell of Blevins and Marlene Minihan of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Revs. Mark E. Land and Timothy Edward Land Jr. officiating. The burial was in Snell Cemetery in Emmet. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
