Julia RettmanPublished Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the Gurdon TimesJulia Lois Friday Rettmann, age 70, of Dierks, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, in the Dierks Health and Rehab Center. She was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Lockesburg, to Elon and Fannie Cannon Friday. Julia was a retired librarian, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Baptist. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Rettmann Jr. in 2000. Julia is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Karen Rettmann of Waldron; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Dusty Currey of Gurdon, and Angie and Jeff Tipton of Dierks; four sisters, Elverna Sykes, Illene Snow and Velma Owens, of Lockesburg, and Sharon Davis of Dierks; a brother, Ron Friday; seven grandchildren, Darren Suitor, Dustin Suitor, Lindsay Rettmann, Cameron Coston, Kyle Currey, Jaron Tipton and Calan Tipton; and two great-grandchildren, Emma Suitor and Cecelia Suitor. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg with the Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, DeQueen. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in DeQueen.
