Hugh KimbrellPublished Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the Gurdon TimesHugh Kimbrell, 92, passed away May 29, 2007, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation after a long journey with Alzheimers. He was the first child born to the late William Boman and Jettie Mae Long Kimbrell on February 27, 1915 at Dobyville, near Okolona. He was preceded in death by, daughter, Shirley Wells in 1993 and granddaughter, Teresa Gaye Hamm in 1967. He is survived by wife of 67 years, Coy Norman Kimbrell; brother, Grady Kimbrell of Gurdon; daughters, Patsy and husband, Eldon Hamm of Okolona and Helen and husband, Johnny Masey of Hallsville, TX; son-in-law, Bobby and wife, Connie Wells of Gurdon; seven grandchildren, Shari Hamm Campbell of Mayflower, Desi Hamm of Cabot, Tori Well Deaver of Springhill, LA, Jaime Wells Ledbetter of Gurdon, Shane Masey of Carrollton, TX, Brandi Masey of Hallsville, TX and Lacey Masey of Dallas, TX and seven great-grandchildren, Paige Campbell, Adam McKey, Devin Hamm, Baylie Deaver, Dylan Masey, and Reid and Rhett Ledbetter. A lifelong resident of Clark County he was a farmer, a logging contractor and an employee of the Gurdon Street Department. He always enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with family and friends. The family favorites were his corn and tomatoes. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gurdon. The funeral service was Friday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gurdon, with Rev. Charles Leslie officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. Pallbearers are Shane Masey, Desi Hamm, Randy Ledbetter, Tony Pruitt, David Coston and John David Coston. The family appreciates the excellent care and accommodations by all of his caregivers and administrative staff of Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation the past two years.
