EQUIPMENT BURNED

Published Wednesday, March 10, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

It was a bad week for the Allen Brothers Logging Company as two pieces of their equipment burned.

A truck fire occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, March 1, on county road 152, when a tractor burned.

The truck was completely destroyed and was valued at about $60,000. Arson is suspected in this incident with an investigation underway.

On Tuesday, March 2, while loggers were working in the woods, a cutter being used caught fire and was destroyed.

This occurred around 1 p.m. off DeAnn Road, Sorrells said. At the time, a tree was being cut when the operator smelled smoke and saw the fire.

He attempted to extinguish the blaze but was unsuccessful.

The cutter was valued at about $180,000.
