Emmet man charged with shooting carBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, May 9, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune An Emmet man was charged with committing a terroristic act after he allegedly shot into a vehicle driven by his ex-wife, breaking out windows in the car. Archie Dwain Cook II, 40, reportedly shot through the vehicle occupied by his ex-wife on April 5. According to a report on file at the Nevada County Circuit Clerks Office, Nevada County Deputy Robert Missey was called to Cooks residence by another person. That person indicated concern about Cooks action, according to the court records. Before Missey arrived at Cooks residence, Cooks ex-wife reportedly told of the shooting. (She) said she was at Dwain Cooks residence when he shot her window of her vehicle, the report states. The woman then reportedly told Missey that she had left the residence and Dwain Cook was still there with a gun. When Missey arrived at Cooks residence, he apparently encountered another man who said Dwain Cook was in the residence with a gun in each hand. The man told Missey that he was a passenger in the vehicle when Cook allegedly shot through the windshield. Cook reportedly exited the residence without incident and told Missey that the guns were inside. According to the statement on file, Cook said he had only fired a weapon into the air after someone knocked on a window of his residence. According to the police records, Cook locked his arms and refused to submit to the arrest. He was taken to the Nevada County Jail and has since been formally charged with a $2,500 bond. He is slated for trial on June 12. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
