Motions for discovery have been filed in the case of a Gurdon man arrested in March for residential burglary and theft of property.

According to records on file in the Clark County Circuit Clerks office, Danny Neil Wilson, 30, 390 Curtis Road, was arrested after he allegedly trespassed on property located on Highway 51 in Arkadelphia and took items from that location.

An affidavit in the court file states that the property owner, who does not live on the property, arrived on March 1 to check its condition and found a car parked in the driveway and a gate open. She told police that upon her arrival, a female exited the vehicle and said her husband was on the property getting copper.

The husband, identified as Wilson, told the property owner that he went onto the property because the gate was not locked, the affidavit indicates. It goes on to say that Wilson later told investigators that he took several items from the property.

The property owner told police that two mobile homes on the property had ben vandalized as if someone had attempted to take copper wiring out of the ceilings and walls. Wilson denied causing the damage.

The charges were filed, and a bench warrant was issued for Wilson on March 26. He was arrested and released on bond.

The defense filed a motion for discovery on April 12. Clark County Prosecuting Attorney Blake Batson filed a response to the motion stating that the state has an "open record" policy and therefore the motion is not needed. He moved that the motion be dismissed.

The states motion for discovery was filed on March 13. The defense has not yet made a response.

In an unrelated filing, David Wooldridge, 30, of 707 Clark Street, Gurdon, has filed an appeal of a conviction from Gurdon Municipal Court. During a Feb. 15, appearance before Judge Randy Hill in Gurdon, Wooldridge was found guilty of domestic battery. The charge stemmed from an incident on Oct. 21.

In February, Hill sentenced Wooldridge to one year in jail with all but three days suspended and an $800 fine with all but $300 suspended. He was also ordered to random drug testing, anger management and a parenting class. A no contact order was also ordered between Wooldridge and others involved in the incident.

The appeal will now go before the Clark County Circuit Court.
