Officers to address noiseBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune Prescott City Police say they are preparing to crack down on loud music within the city limits. According to Prescott Police Chief Brian Russell, complaints about loud music are up over the past few months, prompting the crack down. The city has an ordinance outlining the accepted noise level by decibel. Russell said that all officers have decibel meters in their cars, so can accurately reflect the level of music. The major source of the complaint is from vehicles. Russell said that the problem happens when one persons music becomes an annoyance to another. Effective immediately, Russell said officers will be actively investigating complaints and will be handing out warnings and then citations for offenders. According to information from the PPD, the fine for a conviction for violating the noise ordinance is $130. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
