Bette DuVall

Bette Rushing DuVall, 79, of Benton, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007.

She was born on August 29, 1927, in Arkadelphia. Mrs. DuVall retired from Caldwell Elementary in Benton after thirty years as a fourth grade teacher and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jewell Rushing; mother and stepfather, Gladys Taylor Sherman and Edwin Thomas Sherman; husband, Robert W. DuVall; and a sister, Mary Gray.

She is survived by her son, Robert Rushing Rush DuVall and wife Christine; one daughter, Leah Duvall Hudspeth and husband Barry; nine grandchildren, Andrea Oetken Kent and husband Brandon, April Oetken, Brandan Hudspeth and wife Christa, Laina DuVall, Jordan DuVall, Seth DuVall, Chase DuVall, Evan DuVall and Elle DuVall; two great-granddaughters, Ava Marie Oetken and Drew Elizabeth Hudspeth; one nephew, Jim Ed Gray; three nieces, Sue Powers Shultz, Carol Ann Tabor and Marilyn Williams; and a great-nephew, Jeff Gray. Pallbearers were Jeff Westbrook, Jim Shultz, Norman Oetken, Mike Dobbins, Jeff Gray and Dr. Russell Burton. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Webb, Richard Jacobs, John Due and Dan Billingsley.

Visitation was from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, April 15, at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Benton with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery in Tull. Dr. George McCoy and Dr. Rick Grant officiated the ceremony. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Benton or the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund in Tull.
