Steven MatthewsPublished Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneSteven King Matthews, 61, of Conway, died Wednesday, March 4, 2007, at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Whittier, Calif. He was the son of the late John Matthews and Brunette King McMillen. He was raised in Wichita, Kan., served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelors degree. He retired from the Potlatch Corporation in Prescott, were he worked as a forester and most recently was employed by Independent Living services of Conway. He is remembered for having a love of the outdoors, which is referenced in his being a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 81 for seven years while living in Prescott. He is survived by one son Scott, of Little Rock; one daughter Sarah Ricker and husband Brian of Ponchatoula, La.; four grandchildren, Travis, Kyle, Carson and Kendall Ricker; and one sister, Karleen Taylor and her husband David of Conway. A memorial service, arranged by Roller McNutt Funeral Home, was held at First United Methodist Church of Conway, on Saturday, March 7. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Independent Living Services, P.O. Box 1990, Conway, AR 72033. The online guest book is available at rollerfuneralhomes.com.
