Sophie Loy

Sophia McClure Loy, age 90, of Arkadelphia, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Clark County on October 30, 1916, the daughter of the late Jesse and Beulah Hammonds McClure. Sophia was a life-long resident of Clark County, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her family brought her great joy. Sophia was a charter member of Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Loy, and one son, Charles Edward Loy.

Sophia is survived by four daughters, Billy Jean Dixon, Patricia Gardner and husband, Kenneth, Charlene Stroud, Debbie Haynie and husband Bruce; one son, Mike Loy and wife, Connie; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Loy, all of Arkadelphia; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at Welch Funeral Home with Brother Robert Watson and Brother Charles Hargett officiating. Interment will be at Caddo Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jim Freeman, Ed Dixon, Tim Freeman, Chuck Loy, William Stroud, Lee Loy, Nathan Loy and Jimmy Reynolds. Family hours were from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
