Off-duty police officer sees disturbance, man arrestedBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the Gurdon Times A Gurdon man was arrested after an off-duty police officer spotted a disturbance in front of a house on Main Street. Arkadelphia Police Officer Chris Harper, who lives in Gurdon, was on his way to work on Thursday, March 22, when he noticed a woman sitting on the ground crying and screaming at a man in the front yard of 509 E. Main, according to a report on file at the Gurdon Police Department. Although Harper was in his personal vehicle, he was wearing an Arkadelphia police uniform. After seeing the disturbance in progress, the report states that he returned to the residence, requesting back-up from Gurdon police. Harpers statement indicates that once he returned to the residence, the man, identified as David Foshee, 43, of 509 E. Main, grabbed the woman by the arm and took her inside. Harper attempted to gain entry to the house, and could hear someone screaming inside, the report states. Harper was reportedly let in by the woman. After sorting through the couples versions of the cause of the disturbance, the woman gave police a large vitamin jar full of Xanax, an anti-depressant, which she claimed belonged to Foshee. The report states that Foshee admitted that the pills were his He said he had a valid prescription for the medicine, but police were unable to confirm. According to Gurdon Police Officer Chris Russell, the bottle contained 1,925 Xanax pills with an approximate street value of $5,000. Foshee was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He was taken to the Clark County Jail where he was held over for a first appearance. Russell said the Arkansas State Police have been asked to help investigate Foshees possession of the medications.
