A Gurdon woman was arrested for resisting arrest after being involved in a hit and run accident on Monday, March 12.

According to a report on file in the Gurdon Police Department, Yolanda Blakey, 21, of 411 Lockhart St., was driving a Dodge pickup when she allegedly struck a parked vehicle on the parking lot of Austins Min-It-Mart on Arkansas 53 and then left the scene. Gurdon Officer Gary Marshal was able to obtain information leading him to believe Blakey was involved and then located her at home.

The report indicates that Marshal asked Blakey to ride with him back to the scene to talk with witnesses in order to determine for sure whether she was involved. She reportedly refused but reconsidered once she was advised that she was under arrest.

Marshal then lead Blakey to his patrol car, but as they approached the car, she allegedly ran back towards the house, the report states. Marshal was able to get to Blakey before she closed the door to the house, and she was placed in handcuffs.

Blakey was charged with resisting arrest and was taken to the Clark County jail, according to the report.

An accident report indicates that the side-view mirror of the vehicle which was allegedly hit by Blakey was missing and the cars paint was scratched.
