Two Gurdon residents were arrested March 3, after an alleged theft at a construction site at Gurdon Primary School.

Sumer D. Ellis, 20, and Christopher Young, 18, both of 604 E. Beech Street, were arrested after they were allegedly seen trespassing at the construction site, according to a police report on file at the Gurdon Police Department.

The report indicates that officers were called after two people were seen around the construction site. While following up on a lead, the report indicates that the officer went to Ellis and Youngs residence. Young reportedly returned to the officer two items he took from the site: tin snips and a pair of Robogrip plyers.

Young was charged with criminal trespass and theft of property. Ellis was charged with criminal trespass. Both were released with citations.

Also on March 3, officers arrested Eddie S. Watkins, 43, of 672 Jones Road, Perla, on charges of domestic battery after allegedly hitting a woman at a residence on Haynie Road, according to police reports.

The report says that Watkins left town before Gurdon officers could locate him. His vehicle description was given to the Arkadelphia Police Department and the Clark County Sheriffs office, and he was later spotted on I-30 near Arkadelphia.
