The Gurdon Chamber of Commerce banquet has been set for Tuesday, March 13, and organizers are now seeking nominations for two awards.

According to banquet organizer Anita Cabe, residents of Gurdon may submit their nominations for Citizen of the Year and Teacher of the Year through 9 a.m. Friday, March 9. The nominations may be handed in to Michelle Anderson at First State Bank or Michelle Babineaux at the Cabe Office.

The results will then be tallied, and the winners will be announced at the banquet.

An award will also be given for Chamber Member of the Year, Cabe said.

The banquet begins at 7 p.m. and will feature the traditional banquet meal catered by the Gurdon High School cafeteria. Cabe said entertainment will be provided by Gurdon resident Winnie Clark.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Ray Tucker, director of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Cabe said Tucker is excited about coming to Gurdon and should be a very interesting speaker.

Tickets to the event are $15 each, and can be purchased at either downtown bank or at the Cabe office on Front Street.

Cabe said she expects about 130 people to be in attendance.
