Garland Plyler

Mr. Garland C. Plyler, 98, of Prescott, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.

He was born on May 30, 1908, in Bluff City, to Jonas Marion and Ludie Viola Sarrett Plyler. He was a retired manager of a motel and service station in Lufkin, Texas. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Prescott. He loved to play his guitar and entertain the residents at Hillcrest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera Parish Plyler; four brothers, Lee R., Coy, Joe M. and Watson Plyler and three sisters, Mae Robertson, Eva Williams, and Sally McDonald.

His survivors include two brothers, Al Plyler and LaWanna of Prescott and Frank Plyler and Sona of Little Rock; one sister, Betty Dean of Lancaster, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Midway Cemetery in Prescott, with the Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Burial followed.

Family received friends Sunday, March 4, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott, prior to the service. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
