County plans to test emergency siren systemBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune Nevada County Judge Baker Butler said the county will begin a program to test emergency sirens around the county each Wednesday at noon. The process is an effort to be sure all the sirens are working properly and to help residents find out those vantage points at which they can hear the sirens best. There may be some that dont go off, Butler said. Butler said he hopes county residents who discover that a particular siren isnt working will report that fact to the county. He said county employees will check as many sirens as possible, but having the community also be aware of the testing will the county address any sirens that arent working. Its that time of year, Butler said. Its storm season. We need to be sure theyre all working. Sirens will be turned on for one cycle each Wednesday at noon until further notice, according to Butler. He said sirens wont be tested during stormy weather. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
