Charles Pennington Jr.

Charles Pennington Jr. of Gurdon, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Drew County to Charlie Leonard and Susie Wilson Pennington.

Charles was a plant manager for Arkla Pine Ply mill at Gurdon, a forestry consultant, logging contractor and land agent for Arkansas Louisiana Gas at Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a longtime member of the Hoo Hoo International and an Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jane Harris, and one brother, Robert Dale Pennington.

Survivors include hi wife, Irene Knoblock Pennington; three sons, Stephen, Joey, and Mitch all of Gurdon; one daughter, Crystal Holmes of Lumberton, Texas; a special son, Eddie Uchtman; five grandchildren, Kelli, Presley and Gunner Pennington, and Jake and Katie Holmes; two brothers, Hugh Pennington of Monticello and Harry Pennington of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Evonne May and Betty Wallis of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were at 10 a.m. Feb. 26 at Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at Green Hill cemetery near Monticello. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon. The online guestbook is available at www.hornefuneralhome.net.
