Charles Pennington

Charles Pennington Jr., of Gurdon, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Drew County to Charlie Leonard and Susie Wilson Pennington.

Charles was a plant manager for Arkla Pine Ply mill at Gurdon, a forestry consultant, logging contractor and land agent for Arkansas Louisiana Gas at Shreveport, La. He was a longtime member of the Hoo Hoo International and an Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jane Harris and one brother, Robert Dale Pennington.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Knoblock Pennington; three sons, Stephen, Joey and Mitch, all of Gurdon; one daughter, Crystal Holmes of Lumberton, Texas; one special son, Eddie Uchtman; five grandchildren, Kelli, Presley and Gunner Pennington, and Jake and Katie Holmes; two brothers, Hugh Pennington of Monticello, and Harry Pennington of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Evonne May and Betty Wallis of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. at Green Hill cemetery near Monticello.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home. Arrangements were by Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon. The online guest book is available at www.hornefuneralhome.net.
